Thank you — a book found is exactly why this exists. 💙
🔒 We check your location just to confirm you're really at this box — it's how we keep fake or unrelated photos off the map. We never store or share where you live.
Checking your location…
This box came from OpenStreetMap and isn't fully set up in our system yet.
Totally optional — fill in what you know, or just skip straight to your photo below.
Nothing here is required to upload your photo. Your name and email (if you choose to share them)
are only used to say thanks and confirm this box — never shown publicly. BookStoop is an independent neighborhood project in Ballard.
First, one photo of the box from outside — this confirms it's a real street library.
Then, up to 4 photos of the shelves inside — the AI reads every spine it can see.
✓ Like this
Straight-on & close — spines fill the frame and titles are readable
✗ Not like this
Too far away or tilted — the AI can't read the titles
Uploading your photos
BookStoop is a neighborhood pilot — the AI reading isn't always 100% right. You'll be able to send a correction on the next screen.
This step needs your phone
Adding a photo only works from your phone's camera, right at the box — that's how we keep the catalog honest. Open this page on your phone to continue.
You just updated the catalog!
Neighbors can now see what's on these shelves. Thank you, book hero.

One quick question (optional) ·

Did BookStoop help you find it?
How's BookStoop working for you?
Thank you — this helps other neighbors know what to expect. 💛

Thanks for keeping BookStoop honest!
"Got it" updates this one book — but a photo catches everything else: new arrivals, or books someone else took without saying so. No typing needed — our AI reads every spine for you.
